LAND AHOY! Newport Allotments at last

For over 6 years a group of residents have longed to find land for allotments in Newport. Down the years diverse efforts have been made, with many letters, meetings, approaches to Authorities – the Barony, the Community and later Town and County Councils.

But now a private owner is offering a part of her newly bought land. The site is flat and convenient to the town, sheltered and not up a mountain, it has a great view!

The committee is sharpening its pens, agreements are being forged, and there seems nothing to stop a long awaited dream of landing and digging for the treasure of home-grown vegetables with a like-minded crew of hearties!
